Lillian So began lessons in violin at the age of six, later achieving distinctions for her AMusA and LMusA diplomas at the ages of 12 and 14. She is currently completing her undergraduate Honours studies at the Sydney Conservatorium as a student of Alice Waten, and regularly works alongside leading professionals as a member of Sydney Sinfonia, the Sydney Symphony nationwide professional training program. Lillian has been a soloist with orchestras from a young age. At 14, she performed Saint-Saëns' Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso at the Sydney Town Hall with the Abbotsleigh Orchestra. When she was 15, she won the National Youth Concerto Competition, performing Khachaturian's Concerto with the Queensland Youth Orchestra. She has also been a soloist with the Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra (KPO) numerous times due to her successes in the NSW Secondary Schools Competition, where she was the Overall Winner in 2007, the winner of the KPO Player's Award in 2006 and 2007, and a winner of the Multiples Section in 2006.
