Bio

Mick On Wheels

As a professional singer, entertainer Mick On Wheels has been working in the music industry since 1997. With a powerful vocal range and amazing tone, Mick’s voice has been compared to that of our very own John Farnham. A versatile performer, Mick covers many music genres, ranging from Rock, Pop, RnB, Jazz, Blues, Funk & Soul. Having toured and performed across the world, he has been privileged to share the stage with artists such as Human Nature, Air Supply guitarist Rex Goh, Dragon front man Mark Williams, Angry Anderson from Rose Tattoo, Guy Sebastian, A Grade session guitarist Peter Northcote and Barry Leef. In 2014, Mick On Wheels wowed the judges on the reality TV show X-Factor, receiving a rare standing ovation from all four superstar judges and the 5000-strong X-Factor crowd: Ronan Keating reacted with: “It was amazing. Man you’ve got some soul. I love that tone. Great job, well done.” Dannii Minogue followed with: “That was just out of this world. The voice, the moves, the microphone. I mean you worked it, you worked it big time!” But then Redfoo, who grew up with artists such as Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder who were signed to his father’s Motown Record label, dropped a bombshell: “I’ve been around a lot of soul singers and that is one of the best voices I’ve heard. It’s cutting through like a knife man….whoooo!” Mick went on to be mentored by Red Foo on the show and made it to the Top 20. Since then, Mick has built a strong on-line and live following, with over 100,000 views on YouTube and over 400 live gigs entertaining audiences up and down the East Coast of Australia. He’s been likened to wheelchair tennis champion Dylan Alcott. What Dylan is for tennis is what Mick is for singing. But for the man recognised as “the singer in a wheelchair”, Mick has never viewed himself as having a disability. In contrast, Mick defines himself as having ‘ability’ not a ‘disability’. “Whilst I may not be able to walk it’s never stopped me doing anything. In fact, I believe I have been given a special gift with my voice that I need to share with Australia.”
