Missy Lancaster is a country girl at heart from a small town that wants to share her music with Australia. The 20 year old has hit the ground running with her fresh style and genuine performances landing her as an opening act for the likes of Adam Harvey, The Viper Creek Band,Troy Cassar-Daley, Amber Lawrence and Buddy Goode.
After picking up a guitar at the age of 13 and locking herself in a room to learn a Taylor swift song Missy hasn’t looked back. “I made my mum drive me to our local music store and buy me a guitar and I sat in my room morning, noon and night till I knew the song I was learning at the time. That was it.. I was addicted! I would come home after school and write and play and it kind just took over my life from there. It’s the most amazing way to express yourself, I find it hard to confront people so it’s much easier to sing about them instead”.
In 2015 Missy Lancaster released her debut EP “Til’ I Figure It Out” produced by Simon Johnson which shot to number 1 on the iTunes charts, proving that that the effortless performer is also a very talented songwriter. “Recording the EP was such an amazing process, watching my songs come to life is such a surreal feeling. I wanted to blend my country sound with a more poppy sound, and I chose my songs based on whether they made people feel something.”
“‘Til’ I Figure It Out’ is a collection of the last few years of my life, the love for my hometown, the struggle of living in a small town and following your heart and the obstacles you have to overcome on the way. To me story telling is the most important thing, having people come up to me and be able to relate to a song or understand as the story unfolds through the EP is just the most incredible feeling!”
2015 has proved to be a big year for Missy already, starting it with Tamworth Country Music Festival playing alongside established artists and building a fan base. Performing a total of 10 shows over the festival it is safe to say that Missy is ready to take the bull by the horns and run with it. Following on from Tamworth Missy has kept her foot on the accelerator opening for The Viper Creek Band at a number of shows on the East Coast before touring central Australia with Tania Kerngahan and performing at the 2015 Birdsville and Innamincka Races, and a few places in between.
